Under the Erasmus teaching mobility program, members of Bursa Technical University (BTU), Faculty of Forestry, Forest Industry Engineering Department, Prof.Dr.Ramadan Kurt and Asst.Prof.Dr. Murat Ertaş were invited to have a one-week visit to University of Helsinki in Finland.
The visit has begun with the meeting of participants from University of Helsinki, Department of Forest Sciences, Professor Dr. Pasi Puttonen and Dr. Juha Rikala. At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pasi Puttonen introduced their Forestry Department and studies, and Prof.Dr. Kurt introduced our university, Forest Faculty and presented Bursa Province.
Our group Located has come together with scientists at Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. Prof.Dr. Mark Hughes and Dr. Lauri Rautkar from Aalto University Professor, Department of Forest Products Technology held a meeting. During the meeting Erasmus agreement between the two universities, discussion on establishing joint projects and laboratory visit were done.
The Finnish Forest Research Institute (METLA) visited the meeting. During the visit, Dr. Pekka Saranpa presented their research and gave a briefing about the activities and projects of the Institute on Forestry.
Asst.Prof.Dr. Murat Ertaş gave a speech on Turkey's position in the bioenergy sector, existing and planned renewable energy sources and Prof.Dr. Ramazan Kurt talked about engineered wood to the students and instructors.
A meeting held with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Marketta Sipi on expansion of bilateral cooperation and the extension of the scope of the Erasmus agreement and reached consensus.
Finland visit of our faculty ended with a visit to Adnan Başağa, Helsinki Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey. Our University and Faculty’s vision and mission were told to Mr. Ambassador and information about the content of the visit and activities were expressed.
